Who is The Comms Guy?

  • The Comms Guy is Tobias.
  • Tobias became a Sole Trader in 2013 after studying IT for 3 years and worked as a Systems/Network Engineer and a Telecommunications Installer both as a Sole Trader and for companies such as IBM. The decision to move soley into Data Cabling, Network Installations & Security came from a fascination into the connecting infrastructure we all use on a daily basis as well as seeing poor installations and workmanship throughout the industry. His mission became an effort into creating a better infrastructure and solid networks with old-fashioned workmanship that lasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can't my electrician do the same thing?
  • No. Most electricians are not trained or licensed in Data Cabling. Using untrained/unlicensed people will lead to improper installation and poor performance of cabling, not to mention an unsatisfied customer.

  • Do you have all the licences required?
  • Yes. ACMA Registered & Licensed Open Cabling Registration with all necessary Cabling Endorsements. SA Security License and TCG also has Public Liability insurance and White Card for building sites. You can rest easy knowing your work is being undertaken by an insured, experienced and most importantly a licenced tradesperson.

  • Do you have to quote every single job?
  • No. Quoting is often necessary, but TCG will take the opportunity to perform the tasks while onsite the first time. Some works, particularly large scale works, will require a quote. TCG will discuss the tasks with you to ensure we both fully understand the tasks at hand and to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
